Beginning in 2006, Connect Africa deployed a \u201cProof of Concept\u201d trial in Limpopo Province supported by the Southern Africa Trust, which demonstrated the feasibility of our business model, as well as the elements that needed fine tuning.<\/p>\n<p>With a revised model in hand, we launched the Connect Africa Mobile Community Service Pilot Project in Mogalakwena District of Limpopo Province in 2007, with the support of the Development Bank of Southern Africa. The pilot produced results that far exceeded our expectations, and the detailed report can be accessed\u00a0by clicking <strong><a href=\"pdfs\/Pilot_Project_Report _June_2007.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Comprehensive market research into the types of services rural people need and expect accompanied the pilot project. We interviewed over 1000 people across seven districts of Mogalakwena and both the <a href=\"files\/Cellular Network User Survey Nov 2007 (Limpopo).xls\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>raw data<\/strong> <\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"pdfs\/CONNECT AFRICA SURVEY REPORT June 2007.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>analysis<\/strong> <\/a>\u00a0of the surveys can be accessed in the library section.<\/p>\n<p>We are now working with the\u00a0Southern Africa Trust to plan the next phase of our rollout in\u00a0South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Connect Africa has also joined the Intel\u00a0Learning Series Alliance\u00a0to enhance education\u00a0in underserved rural communities in South Africa.\u00a0You can read more about this initiative <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/?page_id=142\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>REPORTS:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"pdfs\/SA%20Trust%20Proof%20of%20Concept%20Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/WP1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/pdf_button.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/>Connect Africa Rural Service Network:\u00a0 Proof of Concept, January 2007<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This report marks our debut in the ICT for rural development sector.
