When they saw us approach in our vehicles, they started beating their drums, raising their spears and dancing.<\/p>\n<p>We jumped out the vehicles as they came to a stop in Moono Palace, and were surrounded by the dancing crowd who were, as we learnt later, welcoming us through their songs and dance.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pnZ3m-Y516c\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Our cameras were taking photos and filming the experience as quick as we could turn them on, wanting to capture some of the spectacle to show others.\u00a0 Were the tables not turned now? Was our interest in this dance not the same as the local children finding us visitors fascinating?<\/p>\n<p>Technology is a way, if used purposefully, for us to narrow the divide.\u00a0 After all, that is part of the reason why we were here at the Palace \u2013 looking at how <a title=\"ICT defined on Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Information_and_communications_technology\" target=\"_blank\">ICT<\/a> will impact these communities, and wanting to learn more about them and their need to be connected.<\/p>\n<p>As the song and dance ended, our welcoming commission walked away, and in a few minutes couldn\u2019t hold the rhythm in them any longer, and another drum beating dance began.\u00a0 This time, <a title=\"Video clip of Chris dancing\" href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/dHkFpvShaPU\" target=\"_blank\">Chris joined in<\/a>, surprising us and the locals with his hip movements.<\/p>\n<p>After a <a title=\"Video clip of another dance\" href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/yLUU8EG925E\" target=\"_blank\">few more dances<\/a>, the group sat under a tree, and we joined them to do our interviews of the elders.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/moono-palace-filming.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1707\" title=\"The scene for filming at Moono Palace\" src=\"http:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/moono-palace-filming-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"film scene | Connect Africa | image\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/moono-palace-filming-300x179.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/moono-palace-filming-1024x612.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/moono-palace-filming-500x300.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.connectafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/moono-palace-filming.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not lose our tradition.
